The ACT will soon begin offering a summer test date for college-bound students.

The Iowa-based testing company announced this week that its first summer test will take place in July 2018. The addition will bring the total number of ACT test dates offered each year from six to seven.

“Students, educators, and colleges have told us they would like to see an extra test date prior to early admission and application deadlines, and we have listened,” ACT official Suzana Delanghe said in a statement. “This additional test date will allow students to focus on their coursework while they are in school and prepare for the ACT test during the summer.”

The College Board has also added a summer test. An August SAT will be offered for the first time this summer.
