New From NACAC: E-Learning Course on Advising Student-Athletes

Are your students interested in continuing to play sports after high school?

A new e-learning course is now available from NACAC to help you guide student-athletes through the college recruitment process.

Packed with resources and tons of helpful hints, The Counselor’s Guide to the Student-Athlete Advising Process provides a comprehensive overview of the college athletics landscape, as well as practical tips for guiding student-athletes through the process of finding the right fit.

“Being a student-athlete can enhance the college experience in so many ways—offering opportunities, connections, and ways to excel, plus teaching lessons about character, teamwork, and effort,” Joyce Smith, NACAC CEO, said in a press release. “The Counselors Guide to the Student-Athlete Advising Process gives basic, step-by-step instruction to anyone with a responsibility for helping student-athletes in their transition to an institution where they can pursue both their academic and athletic interests.”

Continuing education is available for school counselors who complete the two-hour course. The cost is $50 for NACAC members and $60 for nonmembers.
