However, student-athletes tend to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncaa.org\/about\/resources\/research\/gallup-study-undergraduate-experiences-and-post-college-outcomes-ncaa-student-athletes\">transfer less often<\/a> than their peers, usually due to more extensive engagement at their institution and the complexity of the transfer process, particularly for scholarship athletes.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to speaking to coaches or athletic compliance officers about transferring, students and counselors should review the NCAA\u2019s\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/on.ncaa.com\/Transfer4\">Four-Year Transfer Guide<\/a><\/em>\u00a0or <em><a href=\"https:\/\/on.ncaa.com\/Transfer2\">Two-Year Transfer Guide<\/a>.<\/em> Both publications include a transfer checklist and important steps for students to consider <em>before<\/em>\u00a0transferring.<\/p>\n<p>Transitioning from one institution to another can be costly for student-athletes and non-athletes alike.
