Awards and Honors<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Maria T. Correa<\/strong>, director of college and career advising at the Caribbean School (PR), was among those honored through the College Board\u2019s 2019 Counselor Recognition Program<\/strong>. Recipients are selected based on their work expanding college readiness and access for students.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Kay Rothman<\/strong>, director of college counseling at the New York City Lab School, was recognized through the Teachers Who Make a Difference<\/strong> program. The honor is connected to The New York Times<\/em> College Scholarship Program<\/a>.\u00a0 One of Rothman\u2019s students\u2014Melanie Earle\u2014was selected for a Times\u2019<\/em> scholarship in spring 2019. Earle named Rothman as an educator who had helped her achieve her goals. Both Earle and Rothman were honored at a special dinner and Rothman was awarded $3,000. She used the money to create the Melanie Grace Earle Library in honor of her student\u2019s love of comics and graphic novels.<\/p>\n

Members on the Move<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>Jamiere Abney<\/strong> has been promoted to associate dean of admission and coordinator of outreach for opportunity & inclusion at Colgate University (NY)<\/strong>. He previously served as the university\u2019s senior assistant dean of admission and coordinator of outreach for opportunity & inclusion.<\/p>\n

Christopher Chiakulas<\/strong> is now a postsecondary counselor at John Hersey High School (IL)<\/strong>. He previously served as a college and career counselor at Round Lake High School (IL).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Trent Gilbert<\/strong> is now vice president for enrollment management at Birmingham-Southern College (AL)<\/strong>. He previously served as vice president for enrollment management and communications at Monmouth College (IL).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>James Miller<\/strong> is now director of undergraduate admissions at Seattle University (WA)<\/strong>. He previously served as the director of admissions at the University of Washington Bothell.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Rohan Beros<\/strong> has been promoted to associate head of school\/academic dean\/director of college counseling at University School (OH)<\/strong>. She previously served as the school\u2019s director of college counseling\/senior class dean.<\/p>\n

Traci Flowers<\/strong> is now a postsecondary counselor at Deerfield High School (IL)<\/strong>. She previously served as a college counselor at Loyola Academy (IL).<\/p>\n

Hot Off the Presses<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>Joyce Slayton Mitchell<\/strong>, a US college admissions educator based in China, recently released WHO IS THIS KID? COLLEGES WANT TO KNOW! Writing Exercises for Winning Applications<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nina Berler<\/strong>, a college counselor with unCommon Apps (NJ) and The Hudson School (NJ), recently released Mastering the College Interview<\/em><\/a> and Supplementing the College Supplement<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Dana Martin<\/strong>, a college advisor with Mastery Schools (PA), recently released Creatively Closing the Gap: Unconventional Ways to Find Money for College<\/em><\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

The survey should be used to report accomplishments from the fourth quarter (Oct. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2019).
