Schilling studied abroad her first year; Jones went to a school close to home before transferring to NYU; and Cushner followed a more traditional path from high school to the dorms.<\/p>\n<p>But all three offered similar advice about making friends and dealing with the fear and anxiety that can come from going to a new school and not knowing anyone.<\/p>\n<p>Schilling pointed out that everyone feels the same way their first year. But she said that you shouldn\u2019t let that fear push you to make friends that aren\u2019t a good fit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re trying so hard because you\u2019re so afraid of not having anybody at all,\u201d she said. \u201cSomething that I probably would have loved to have heard from someone older than me is, \u2018Hey, if you have one or two, like, really solid friends that\u2019s enough and you\u2019ll find more people.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cushner said that friendships change throughout your college experience, and that\u2019s okay.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs time goes on, just be open to the way those things evolve,\u201d he said. \u201cThe people that are really important to you and that you connect with will stay around.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beyond making friends, Jones also shared the top advice she wished she would have heard when she was starting out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t sweat it,\u201d she said. \u201cStressing over all the little things, all of the due dates, it\u2019s not worth it.
