From receiving awards to landing new jobs, NACAC members gave us a lot to cheer for in the second quarter of 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Check out their accomplishments!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><strong style=\"font-style: inherit;\">Awards and Honors<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Jamiere Abney<\/strong> joined scholars on the <em>Black &amp; Highly Dangerous<\/em> (BhD) podcast to discuss the Operation Varsity Blues bribery scandal and other current events. Abney serves as the senior assistant dean of admission and the coordinator of outreach for opportunity &amp; inclusion at Colgate University (NY). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackandhighlydangerous.com\/podcast\/episode\/e59069c3\/episode-63-sippin-tea-with-bhd-vol-6-with-jamiere-abney\">Listen to the podcast episode<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/nacacadmitted.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Diane_Campbellsmall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3494\" src=\"http:\/\/nacacadmitted.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Diane_Campbellsmall.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a>Diane Campbell<\/strong>, a college counselor at Liberty Commons High School (CO), received the Roger H Campbell Award from the Rocky Mountain Association for College Admission Counseling. The affiliate\u2019s highest honor, the award is given to individuals who exemplify excellence and dedication to serving students in the transition to college.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vrondelia Chandler<\/strong>, executive director and CEO of Project GRAD Knoxville, will be honored as a featured leader in an upcoming edition <em>of Knoxville \u2013 Region on the Rise<\/em>. The book is published by the Greater Knoxville Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jeff Fuller<\/strong> received the Honorary Lifetime Member Award from the Texas Association for College Admission Counseling. Fuller is currently the director of college counseling at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory (TX) and a NACAC past president.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Courtney Johnson-Benson<\/strong> was one of four individuals honored by the University of Akron (OH) in recognition of Women\u2019s History Month. Johnson-Benson, who serves as the university\u2019s senior assistant director of admissions, was selected for the honor based on her activities both on and off campus, as well as the powerful nature of her personal story. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uakron.edu\/wrc\/stories\/cjb\">Read the profile<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Patricia Tomashot <\/strong>was named Vermont\u2019s School Counselor of the Year. Thomashot, who serves as director of school counseling at Stowe High School, was selected for the honor based on her leadership, advocacy, and collaboration working to promote rigorous educational experiences for all students.<\/p>\n<h2><strong style=\"font-style: inherit;\">Members on the Move<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Cecilia Grano De Oro<\/strong> is now director of college advising at <strong>North Broward Preparatory School (FL)<\/strong>. She previously served as the co-director of college counseling at Scheck Hillel Community School (FL).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jeffrey Neill<\/strong> is now a high school counselor at the <strong>International School of Dakar in Senegal<\/strong>. He was previously the director of college counseling at the Taipei American School in Taiwan.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/nacacadmitted.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/SeanOhiraSMALL.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3495\" src=\"http:\/\/nacacadmitted.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/SeanOhiraSMALL.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a>Sean Ohira<\/strong> was promoted to director of admission at <strong>Chaminade University of Honolulu (HI)<\/strong>. He previously served as the university\u2019s associate director of admission.<a href=\"http:\/\/nacacadmitted.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Diane_Campbellsmall.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/nacacadmitted.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Leslie_Sanderfur_SMALL.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3496\" src=\"http:\/\/nacacadmitted.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Leslie_Sanderfur_SMALL.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a>Leslie Sanderfur<\/strong> is now associate director of college counseling at <strong>Montgomery Bell Academy (TN)<\/strong>. He was previously an assistant director at Vanderbilt University (TN).<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/nacacadmitted.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Carin_Smith_SMALL.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3497\" src=\"http:\/\/nacacadmitted.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Carin_Smith_SMALL.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a>Carin Smith<\/strong> is now a regional rep manager for <strong>DePaul University (IL)<\/strong> serving Northern California. She was previously a Chicago-area regional representative for Lawrence University (WI).<\/p>\n<p><em>Did you land a new job? Receive an award? Publish a book?
