From receiving commendations to landing new jobs to publishing books about the admission process, NACAC members gave us a lot to cheer for in the first quarter of 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Check out their accomplishments!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Awards and Honors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3169\" src=\"http:\/\/nacacadmitted.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/ATHENA-Stephanie-member-news-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/>Stephanie Espina, director of freshman admissions at Adelphi University (NY), was honored with the 2019 ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award by ATHENA International. The award is granted to &#8220;emerging women leaders that meet the criteria of demonstrating excellence, creativity, and initiative in her business or profession, providing valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in the community, and clearly serving as a role model for young women both personally and professionally.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Members on the Move<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3171\" src=\"http:\/\/nacacadmitted.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/swati-member-news-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/>Swati Shrestha was promoted to the head of college and career counseling at the Woodstock School (India). She previously worked as a college counselor at Woodstock.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3172\" src=\"http:\/\/nacacadmitted.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Gilfillan-member-news.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/>Beth Gilfillan successfully defended her doctoral dissertation and accepted a job as an assistant professor of counselor education at Bowling Green State University (OH).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3223\" src=\"http:\/\/nacacadmitted.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/roxanaperez.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/>Roxana Perez Nieves is now the College Bound lead academic\/career counselor at Stockton University (NJ). She was previously the student success manager at Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School (DC).<\/p>\n<p>Alicia Lindgren is now the CEO at CollegeLab, while also maintaining her role as managing director of College Counseling Partners International.<\/p>\n<p>Nicole Shaub Cook founded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findtherightcollege.com\/about-us\/\">Find the Right College<\/a>. She previously worked as an independent educational consultant with Educational Horizons.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hot Off the Presses<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3173\" src=\"http:\/\/nacacadmitted.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Marybethkravets-member-news-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/>Marybeth Kravets, a former NACAC president and director of college counseling at the Wolcott School (IL), recently released the 14<sup>th<\/sup> edition of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Guide-Colleges-Students-Learning-Differences\/dp\/0525567895\/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_14_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&amp;psc=1&amp;refRID=SVK0KDG32S5CSVD9NK4C\">The K&amp;W Guide to Colleges for Students with Learning Differences<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Did you land a new job? Receive an award? Publish a book? Let NACAC know what you\u2019ve been up to by filling out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/6NYWRVH\">our\u00a0survey<\/a>. Member updates will be published quarterly. The survey should be used to report accomplishments from the second quarter (April 1, 2019 to June 30, 2019).
