The play beat out more than 500 submissions to be featured in the 31st annual Young Playwrights Festival in Chicago.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In the play, the main character Lizzy tries to choose between her three suitors \u2014\u201cMcDreamy,\u201d representing her dream private liberal arts college; \u201cHyps,\u201d representing the Ivy League; and State, representing the school that can offer her a full-tuition scholarship (unconditional love in this scenario).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you\u2019re applying for colleges, there\u2019s a lot of back and forth in demonstrating interest. You have to click on all their emails and sign up for all these things,\u201d Henkin told <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/entertainment\/theater\/reviews\/ct-ent-young-playwrights-pegasus-0109-story.html\">The Chicago Tribune<\/a>, <\/em>noting that the process served as an inspiration for <em>Decision Day.<\/em> \u201cI got a postcard from my dream school and I was like, \u2018Oh look, they like me!\u2019 It was almost like they were flirting with me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And just as every guy isn\u2019t a mother\u2019s choice for her daughter, neither is every college. Lizzie must also contend with her mom\u2019s meddling in this comedy.<\/p>\n<p>While Lizzie\u2019s choice remains unknown until the end of the show, Henkin has already made her postsecondary selection. She is currently attending the University of Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/pegasustheatrechicago.org\/productions\/31st-young-playwrights-festival\/\">Young Playwrights Festival<\/a>, featuring <em>Decision Day<\/em>, runs through Jan. 28.<\/p>\n<p><em>Ashley Dobson is NACAC\u2019s communications manager for content and social media.
