She spent all but three years of her career serving students in the Manassas area, first as a teacher and then as a counselor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer former students and counselees became doctors, lawyers, accountants, and landscapers,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/education\/after-a-67-year-school-career-an-89-year-old-guidance-counselor-reluctantly-retires\/2017\/07\/16\/fc8bae76-6815-11e7-a1d7-9a32c91c6f40_story.html?utm_term=.51ed1db24c00\">according <em>The Washington Post<\/em><\/a>. \u201cManassas City Major Hal Parrish was in her social studies course in the late 1960s. NBA legend David Robinson checked into her office in the early 1980s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Through the years, 89-year-old Orlich served generations of families, \u201csometimes helping the grandchildren of students she counseled early in her career,\u201d the <em>Post<\/em> noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just love what I do,\u201d Orlich told the paper. \u201cI\u2019m going to miss everything about this job.
